- It is blurry for all apps. It is blurry with my MacBook Pro lid open or closed. It is blurry before and after plugging in my Thunderbolt cable. The screen and camera lens are clean. The built-in camera on my MacBook Pro, connected to this Thunderbolt Display, is crystal clear. I have the latest display firmware, 1.2, and the latest MacBook Pro.
- The iPad Pro, iPhone, etc. All have great forward and rear-facing cameras, but the 720p resolution camera on the MacBook is noisy, looks flat and lacks depth-sensing technology.
- 720p camera quality. The FaceTime HD camera that Apple is using in the 2018 MacBook Air is far worse than the cameras on modern iPhones and iPads, and quality hasn't been bumped up for.
If you close your Mac notebook with a camera cover installed, you might damage your display because the clearance between the display and keyboard is designed to very tight tolerances. Covering the built-in camera might also interfere with the ambient light sensor and prevent features like automatic brightness and True Tone from working. As an alternative to a camera cover, use the camera indicator light to determine if your camera is active, and decide which apps can use your camera in System Preferences.

Control which apps can use the camera
As an added security measure, you can control which apps have access to the built-in camera. Before any app can use your camera in macOS Mojave or later, you must first give it permission. To see which apps have permission to use your camera and to revoke or grant app access, learn how to control access to the camera on your Mac in System Preferences.
If your work environment requires a camera cover at all times
If your work environment requires you to cover the camera on your Mac notebook, follow these guidelines to avoid damaging the display:
- Make sure the camera cover is not thicker than an average piece of printer paper (0.1mm).
- Avoid using a camera cover that leaves adhesive residue.
- If you install a camera cover that is thicker than 0.1mm, remove the camera cover before closing your computer.

Why Is My Macbook Pro Camera Blurry
If the built-in camera isn't working on your Mac, learn what to do.
My Surface pro 4 has been doing this for a long time. It began when I tried to play different games such as StarCraft and Age of empires III. Without fail the Surface would get hot in the back and I would have to turn it off for a while. That was about a year ago and I hadn't had any problems since until recently when It began happening while I was browsing the internet or streaming movies. The surface still gets hot (not as hot as before but warm) and the screen begins to flicker and or become blurry. I paid almost 2500 for this product thinking that I would not have to buy a new one for a very long time. I don't mind replacing any faulty parts but I want to make sure that I know the exact part that needs to be replaced. Can anyone speak to if this issue is caused be the degradation of the screen over time or is it another component that is causing this problem?
